Two Hospitalized After U-Haul Crashes Into Tree In Newark

At approximately 9:22 a.m. the New Castle County Paramedics, Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company of Newark, Christiana Fire Company and an ambulance from Mill Creek Fire Company were dispatched to Old Capitol Trail at Harmony Road in Newark for a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

New Castle County Paramedics arrived on scene to find a single U-Haul type vehicle into a tree. The 30-year old male driver was trapped for approximately forty-five minutes before being extricated by fire department personnel. The driver has transported to Christiana Hospital on board a Mill Creek Ambulance with paramedics accompanying in serious condition with extremity injuries.

A 31-year-old female passenger was transported by Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

Harmony Road remained closed throughout the incident and is still closed as of 11:30 am.

Delaware State Police is investigating the incident.
