One Reportedly Injured In Newark Apartment Fire Monday Morning

Shortly after 8:20 Monday morning, Newark Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Lehigh Road for reports of an apartment fire.

When officers arrived they found smoke coming from an apartment building directly across the street from West Park Elementary School.

Just before the officers evacuated the building they reported that one subject was injured and was suffering from possible smoke inhalation..

When firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder arrived on scene they confirmed smoke showing and made entry into the apartment where the fire originated.

The incident was placed under control fairly quickly, Command holding the incident to units on scene.

One patient was evaluated and transported by Aetna ambulance and New Castle County Paramedics suffering from smoke inhalation.

Fire Marshal investigators have arrived on scene.
