Saturday Night Fire Forces Occupant From Home

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire that heavily damaged a New Castle home Saturday night, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said the Wilmington Manor Fire Company responded to the 100 block of Talbot Drive in the Chelsea Estates neighborhood around 10:30 pm for calls reporting a house on fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene with flames engulfing the rear of the home. One occupant was able to escape from the home without injury.

State fire investigators were dispatched to the scene. The search into the fire’s origin and the cause remain under investigation. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $50,000 said Chionchio. The American Red Cross was requested to provide emergency assistance to one displaced occupant.
