15-Year-Old Charged In Accidental Shooting, 14-Year-Old In Critical Condition

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old male in connection with an accidental shooting incident that took place Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Officials said at approximately 3:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of West 30th Street, where they located a 14-year-old male gunshot victim inside of a residence. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the neck sources tell FSU.

The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Shea identified a 15-year-old male who was located by responding officers and taken into custody without incident. The incident was determined to have been accidental in nature according to police.

The 15-year-old was charged with Assault First Degree and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited before being released on $22,500 unsecured bail.
