Investigators: Body Found Inside Burning Home Sunday Evening

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating yesterday’s fire in the in the 34000 block of Omar Road near Millville, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said one person was found deceased inside the heavily damaged residential building.,  Firefighters from the Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to the blaze, reported shortly before 7:00 pm Monday. Crews received reports of a fire involving a garage with an apartment on the 2nd floor. Arriving firefighters discovered the victim inside the building said Chionchio.

State fire investigators are currently working to determine the origin and cause of the fire that caused an estimated a $50,000 in damage.

Chionchio said the Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy.
