Newark – Multiple police agencies are on scene in Newark’s Brookside neighborhood.
Sources in law enforcement tell FSU that a subject is barricaded inside of a home on McKay Lane. Photos from the scene show a SWAT Bearcat in the driveway of a home near the intersection of McKay and Martindale Drive.
For the last several hours parents have been telling FSU that the nearby Jennie Smith Elementary was placed on lockdown.
We are withholding details provided to us until the situation has been brought under control.
Delaware State Police issued the following statement:
Delaware State Police are currently conducting a criminal investigation on Mackay Lane, Newark. As a result, there is an increased police presence in the area. This investigation is in the early stages but there is no threat to the safety of the community. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
