Newark-Area Convenience Store Robbed At Gunpoint Saturday

Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Newark area convenience store that occurred Saturday morning according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell at approximately 9:37 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, troopers responded to the Dash In, located at 1148 Christiana Road in Newark for an armed robbery.

A male suspect entered the store and confronted an employee behind the sales counter. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register according to Hatchell. The employee complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was last seen running towards the rear of the business onto westbound Greentree Road.

The suspect was described as a white male in his mid-20’s to early 30’s, approximately 5’10”-6’ tall, wearing all dark clothing, a mask, and armed with a black handgun.
