Rollover Crash Early Saturday Closes Route 1, One To Hospital By Air

Just after 5:00, Saturday morning rescue crews were alerted to an accident involving a rollover crash on Route 1 north of the Middletown exit.

First arriving crews confirmed that the vehicle had rolled over and that the patient had been ejected. Medics later reported that the patient had self extricated so it’s not clear if they were actually ejected.

While crews worked to treat the patient, Trooper 4 landed on the highway north of the accident. The patient was transferred to the helicopter and flown to the Trauma Center in serious condition.

Initial reports indicated that a tractor-trailer may have also been involved in the accident.

The roadway has reopened.
