Wilmington Firefighters Battle Structure Fire On Wednesday

On Wednesday Wilmington Fire Units were dispatched to 11 Rittenhouse Industrial Park at 1:41 pm for a structure fire.

On arrival, units found a fire inside of a warehouse that stored large quantities of oxidizing hazardous materials.

Engine 1 officer and crew made entry to the warehouse with a two-and-a-half-inch hand line and verified all workers were out of the structure. Engine 2 secured a supply line and stretched an additional fire attack hand line. Squad 4 and Ladder 1 completed a search of the structure while Engine 1 extinguished a fire located in a large mechanical device.

Ladder 2 provided vertical and horizontal ventilation of the structure and the scene was placed under control with no hazardous material products involved in the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Wilmington Fire Marshals Office.

No injuries were reported and the scene was turned over to building management.
