Police: New Castle Man Facing Felony Charges After Incident In Bear

Delaware State Police have arrested 35-year-old Jason Miller of New Castle following a theft investigation that occurred Tuesday night, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Leonard DeMalto.

DeMalto said on April 19th, 2022 at approximately 9:35 p.m., troopers responded to Reynold’s Towing, located at 3435 Wrangle Hill Road in Bear regarding a report of a trespass in progress. Responding officers secured a perimeter and began canvassing the property. With the assistance of the Delaware State Police Canine and Aviation units, troopers located Jason Miller attempting to escape on the exterior of the property. He was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of numerous burglar tools said DeMalto. DeMalto said Miller had breached the perimeter fence and was attempting to steal items from vehicles inside the tow yard. A computer check also revealed Miller had active warrants for theft and violation of probation.

Miller was transported to Troop 2 and charged with the following crimes:

Attempted Theft Over $1,500 (Felony)
Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony)
Criminal Mischief
Criminal Trespass Second Degree

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and issued a $2,800 unsecured bond. Miller was ultimately committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $7,500 cash bond stemming from his violation of probation capias.
