Head-On Collision Sends Two To Trauma Center Sunday Night

Just after 10:30, Sunday evening rescue crews responded to westbound Route 40 in the area of Pleasant Valley Road in Newark for reports of a motor vehicle accident with serious injuries.

Two patients were transported to Christian Hospital by ambulance with New Castle County Paramedics onboard.

Delaware State Police issued the following statement last evening.

Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 40 in the Newark area. As a result, westbound Route 40 is closed in the area of Pleasant Valley Road for an extended period. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes of travel to avoid delays. This collision is in the early stages of the investigation. Additional details will be released once they become available.
