Police: Man Charged With Attacking Victim With Machete

Delaware State Police arrested 42-year-old Jason Moore of Frankford, DE on felony criminal charges following an assault incident.

Officials said on Saturday, at approximately 3:20 a.m., troopers responded to the 37000 block of Oak Street in Frankford for a reported assault. Upon arrival, troopers learned Moore engaged in a physical altercation with a female acquaintance at the residence.

The female victim then called a friend to pick her up from the house. The 37-year-old female friend and a 39-year-old male drove to the residence. Police say Moore brandished a machete a threatened them. The 39-year-old male victim and Moore then engaged in a physical altercation. During the altercation, Moore struck the victim multiple times with the machete causing lacerations to the head and body said police. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Moore was taken into custody without incident and the machete was recovered at the scene.

Moore was transported to Troop 4, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Assault 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)- 2 counts
  • Offensive Touching

Moore was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $38,500 cash bond.
