Officer Involved Shooting In New Castle Early Sunday

On Sunday, at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of W. Minuit Drive in Manor Park for a home invasion.

Authorities said officers responded to the scene and while approaching the residence encountered suspects who brandished firearms.  The officers confronted the suspects and began giving commands during which time the suspects failed to comply.  The officers then discharged their weapons striking one male suspect.  One suspect was transported to Christiana Medical Center and is currently listed in stable condition.  The other suspect was taken into custody and transported to the New Castle County Division of Police Headquarters.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that rescue crews responded to the address for reports of three people shot. Follow-up reports indicate that crews located two subjects shot.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Unit and the Delaware Department of Justice-Division of Civil Rights and Public Trust are currently investigating this shooting.  As per Division policy, three officers have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.
