The New Castle County Division of Police, Criminal Investigations Unit, has charged Victor Alamo, a 35-year-old male, with attempted murder and firearms related charges after he discharged a firearm at a victim yesterday morning, according to police.
Officials said on Thursday at approximately 7:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Valley Road for the report of a shots fired complaint. Officers located the scene and after contacting the 37-year-old victim, learned he was sitting in his vehicle when a male suspect approached him armed with a firearm. The suspect discharged multiple gunshots into the vehicle prior to fleeing from the scene in a light- colored sedan.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit assumed the investigation and identified Alamo as a suspect police said. An arrest warrant was issued and all attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.
At approximately 10:00 Friday morning Alamo turned himself in to police at the Cpl. Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building where he was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $1,060,000 cash bail.
Earlier on Thursday police along with SWAT were on Winder Avenue Road in New Castle. FSU is told that that response was associated with the earlier incident.
