Happening Now: Kirkwood Highway Closed After Pedestrian Is Struck

At approximately 6:48 a.m. on Tuesday, the New Castle County Paramedics were requested to respond to Kirkwood Highway in the area of St. James Church Road, in Wilmington, for the report of a pedestrian struck by an automobile, according to S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.

Haas said upon arrival of the New Castle County Paramedics a single patient was found in the roadway. The approximately 75-year-old male was treated on scene by the Paramedics for a head injury. The man was transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in critical condition.

The eastbound lanes of Kirkwood Highway are currently closed while Delaware State Police investigate the incident.
