Serious Crash In Newark Sends Multiple Young People To Trauma Center

At approximately 10:36 pm, New Castle County Paramedics, Aetna Hose, Hook, &
Ladder Company of Newark and the University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit were dispatched
to the area of Library Avenue. and Wyoming Road for a motor vehicle collision. Responding units
arrived and confirmed multiple patients with one patient trapped. EMS evaluated the following
patients:

• 18-year-old female trapped in the vehicle. The patient was trapped for over 20 minutes
while responders worked to extricate her. The patient had significant injuries to her
torso. She was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and was transported to
Christiana Hospital via Aetna Hose, Hook, & Ladder Company ambulance accompanied
by New Castle County Paramedics. The patient was in critical condition at the time of
transport.

• 20-year-old female with injuries to her lower extremities. She was treated on scene by
New Castle County Paramedics and was transported to Christiana Hospital via the University
of Delaware Emergency Care Unit ambulance accompanied by New Castle County
Paramedics. The patient was in serious but stable condition at the time of transport.

• 16-year-old female with neck and back pain. She was treated on scene by New Castle
County Paramedics and was transported to Christiana Hospital via Aetna Hose, Hook, &
Ladder Company ambulance. The patient was in stable condition at the time of
transport.
• And additional three patients refused EMS services at the scene.
Newark Police are investigating the incident.
