Second Laurel Homicide Suspect Held In Maryland

The Delaware State Police have arrested two in the homicide case involving 18-year-old Corey Mumford in Laurel, Delaware. Two suspects, identified as Jhalir Henry, 27, of Delmar, Delaware, and Donregus Holland, 28, of Hurlock, Maryland, have been charged in connection with the crime.

The tragic incident unfolded on April 14, 2023, near the 100 block of Sunset Drive at the Wexford Village Apartments. Corey Mumford was discovered by the Laurel Police Department suffering from multiple gunshot wounds behind one of the apartment buildings. Despite the immediate efforts to resuscitate him, Corey was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. Due to the complex nature of the case, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation at the request of the Laurel Police Department.

As the investigation unfolded, detectives identified Jhalir Henry as one of the suspects involved in Corey’s homicide. On April 21, 2023, a collaborative effort between the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, the Salisbury Police Department, and the Delaware State Police led to Henry’s arrest without incident. At last report he was being held in Maryland, awaiting extradition to Delaware, where he will face charges of Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy First Degree.

On Friday investigators said they identified Donregus Holland as the second suspect connected to Corey Mumford’s tragic murder. On May 18, 2023, the Maryland Marshals Task Force and the Maryland State Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Andrews Street in Hurlock, Maryland, resulting in Holland’s arrest. He is now incarcerated in Maryland, awaiting extradition to Delaware. Holland will face charges including Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, and Conspiracy First Degree.
