Two Found Shot In Rehoboth Beach Hotel, One Dead, One Clinging To Life

Rehoboth Beach Police are currently conducting a criminal investigation into a shooting that occurred on Sunday.

Officials said on Sunday, April 30th, at around 12:18 pm Rehoboth Beach Police were dispatched to a hotel on Christian Street for a report of a possible deceased person inside of one of the rooms. Prior to arrival responding officers were advised that the caller reported that the incident appeared to be a suicide.

Upon arrival the initial officer made entry into the room and located two victims, a male, and a female, both had sustained gunshot wounds to the head. Additionally, the officer located loaded 9mm handguns within the immediate vicinity of each victim. Both handguns were immediately secured for the safety of all on scene.

The officer quickly determined that the male victim was deceased and the female victim was unconscious, but breathing. The officer immediately began rendering first aid until emergency medical services personnel arrived on scene and assumed care of the patient. The female was removed from the scene and transported to a local hospital where she remains on life support.

The victims, in this case, were a 23-year-old female from Newark, Delaware, and a 28-year-old male from Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Police are withholding the names of the victims.

Officials said that police are not seeking any additional persons in relation to this investigation and there are no current threats to public safety.
