Fire Damages Popular Middletown Pub Friday Morning

Just before 4:00 Friday morning, the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown received reports of a structure fire at 12 West Main Street in Middletown.

The emergency responders arrived to find smoke and flames coming from Sully’s Irish Pub. Mutual aid from several neighboring fire companies, including those from Kent County, Maryland, and New Castle County also responded to assist. Those crews not only assisted at the scene but also assisted in covering the fire stations in the surrounding areas, ensuring that emergency services remained available for other potential incidents during this time.

After approximately 40 minutes after the initial emergency call, the firefighters were able to bring the fire under control.

Photos from the scene show damage to the building., however, investigators have not released a damage estimate or an injury report at this time.

State Fire Marshals investigators did respond to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire and will likely update us with additional details later today.
