Christmas Tree Shops To Close All Stores Including Two In Delaware

Christmas Tree Shops, a popular retailer known for home goods, and seasonal decor merchandise, is closing its remaining stores after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May.

The news comes after the company’s efforts to restructure and stay afloat were unsuccessful according to news reports. The Brandywine Town Center and Rehoboth Beach locations, which had managed to survive previous closings by the retailer, will not be spared.

The original Christmas Tree Shops store opened on Cape Cod, in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, around 50 years ago. Despite the name suggesting a seasonal business, these stores have been operating throughout the year, offering customers discounted prices on various items, including gifts and home decor.

The company had experienced changes in ownership over the years, with Bed, Bath, and Beyond acquiring and subsequently selling the Christmas Tree Shops brand.

Unless a buyer emerges within the next few weeks, court filings indicate that the retailer will be forced to liquidate and close its remaining seventy-two stores. This includes both locations in Delaware.
