Third 4th House Fire Attributed To Fireworks

The Office of the State Fire Marshal in Delaware is currently investigating a house fire that occurred on July 4th in Wilmington, Delaware.

The fire, which heavily damaged a residence in the 100 block of West Pembrey Drive near Foulk Road, was reported to emergency services through a 9-1-1 call at approximately 11:30 pm. Upon arrival, the Talleyville Fire Company found the house engulfed in flames and immediately took action to combat the blaze. Additional fire companies provided mutual aid and assistance at the scene.

On Thursday the Office of the State Fire Marshal in Delaware said that they have concluded their investigation into the fire. The fireworks ignited inside the garage, leading to extensive damage to the home.

The finding brings the number of Delaware house fires damaged by fireworks on July 4th to three.

Preliminary assessments estimate the damage caused by the fire to be approximately $200,000. No injuries have been reported in connection with this incident.
