Police: Large Car Meet Ends With Gunfire Overnight

The Delaware State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred early in the morning on July 5, 2023, in New Castle.

Officials said the incident took place at a warehouse complex situated in the 2400 block of Bear Corbitt Road. Troopers responded to a report of shots fired and arrived at the scene around 1:19 a.m.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered that a large unsanctioned car meet had taken place at the location. The gathering appeared to have attracted a significant number of individuals police said.

During their investigation, troopers found several shell casings scattered on the ground, indicating the discharge of firearms. In addition, remnants of fireworks were also present.

According to the police, a 21-year-old man reported that his unoccupied vehicle had been struck by gunfire during the incident. Additionally, another vehicle occupied by a 21-year-old man, a 20-year-old woman, and a 19-year-old woman was also hit by gunfire. No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.

At this time, the Delaware State Police have not provided a description of any suspects involved in the shooting.

The Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is actively working on the case and seeking any information that may assist in identifying the individuals responsible for the shooting. Detective R.
