Two Shot At Car Meet Sunday, One Fatally

Delaware State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a homicide that transpired during an unsanctioned car meet in the early Sunday morning according to police.

The incident unfolded in a business parking lot in the 2400 block of Bear Corbitt Road in New Castle.

Officials said at around 2:00 a.m., troopers responded to reports of a shooting at this location. Upon their arrival, they discovered a 17-year-old male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite resuscitation efforts, he succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The identity of the teenager is being withheld pending notification of his family and relatives. A second victim, a 21-year-old male, was transported by personal vehicle to a nearby hospital due to a gunshot wound to his foot. He is currently in stable condition. Both victims are from New Castle according to police

A preliminary investigation has indicated that a substantial crowd had gathered for a car meet at the location. During the course of this event, a confrontation ensued involving the two victims, leading to a barrage of gunshots. Following the shooting, the crowd dispersed, and the assailants fled in an unknown direction.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident, and detectives are urging anyone with information related to this case to reach out to Detective M. Csapo at 302-741-2729.
