Officers Hear Rapid Gunfire, Find Victim Shot

On Friday night at 10:54, a report came into the Wilmington Police Department regarding an incident in the vicinity of 5th and Madison Street in Wilmington.

A Wilmington Police officer reported hearing eight shots being fired in the area and responded to the area where they discovered a victim who had been shot in a lower extremity.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the trauma center in what is described as stable condition.

Wilmington Police issued the following statement:

Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Friday at approximately 10:52 p.m., in the 500 block of North Madison Street.

Police located an 18-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

This incident remains under investigation, and further details will be released when possible.
