Happening Now: Firefighters Working Large Trash Fire In Townsend

Firefighters from multiple New Castle County, Kent County, Delaware, and Kent County, Maryland are currently on scene of a large trash fire. The fire is at the trash transfer center located at 276 Pine Tree Road in Townsend.

The incident was reported in the early hours of Thursday morning, shortly after 4:00 AM. Crews on the scene have been ordered to wear their masks while working inside the building. In addition to the protective gear, crews are utilizing large equipment to gain access to the fire.

An airboat has also been requested from the South Bowers Volunteer Fire Company for ventilation.
