Man Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In July Has Died

Delaware State Police’s Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 2, 2023. The victim, 43-year-old Lawrence Williams of Newark, Delaware, succumbed to his injuries on October 23, 2023.

According to police, the incident took place at approximately 1:19 a.m. on July 2. Williams was walking along the double yellow line on N. Market Street, between E. 39th Street and E. 40th Street, when he was struck by an unidentified white Nissan sedan traveling northbound. Following the collision, the vehicle continued in the same direction without stopping. Williams was found in the southbound lane of N. Market Street and was subsequently transported to an area trauma hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his passing.

The Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in gathering additional information that could aid in the investigation.
