The Dover Police Department announced the arrest of Quadir Petty Smith, a 25-year-old resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, following an incident that occurred early Sunday morning.
Dover Police Department received a call regarding gunshots fired at the-7-Eleven, located at 654 North DuPont Highway in Dover, at approximately 12:40 in the morning. Officers arrived at the scene, where they discovered damage to the store caused by the shooting according to police.
Officers investigating, determined that Petty Smith had been in possession of a firearm during the incident and was observed pointing it at individuals on the premises officials said. At the time of the initial report, it remained unclear whether Petty Smith had discharged any rounds from the firearm or if other firearms were involved in the incident.
Before the police arrived at the scene, Petty Smith departed from the store; however, he was later located in the Planet Fitness parking lot and was taken into custody without any further incident. Following his apprehension, he was transported to the Dover Police Department for processing and subsequent arraignment.
He has been charged with Aggravated Menacing and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution. His bail amount set at $2,500, secured
