Camden Man Killed In Dover Crash Friday

The Dover Police Department is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a 50-year-old Camden man. The incident occurred last Friday at around 11:30 p.m. on North DuPont Highway.

According to the police, they received a call about a two-vehicle collision in the 800 block of North DuPont Highway. Responding officers found the 50-year-old victim in his car, severely injured from the crash. He was immediately transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries.

Officials said the preliminary investigation showed that a 2003 Buick Century, driven by a 20-year-old female from Smyrna, was heading north on North DuPont Highway near the McDonald’s at 879 North DuPont Highway. Simultaneously, the victim, in a 2000 Toyota Corolla, was attempting a left turn from the southbound lane of North DuPont Highway into the McDonald’s parking lot. During the turn the Corolla was struck by the Buick, causing it to spin into the McDonald’s parking lot. Post-collision, the Buick lost control, traversed a grassy median and came to a stop on the westbound side of the highway. The driver of the Buick did not seek medical treatment.

The identity of the deceased is withheld pending notification of his family.
