Police Respond To Threat Against Smyrna School Wednesday

The Smyrna School District in Smyrna has issued a statement today, November 15, 2023, addressing a threat made against Smyrna Middle School.

The statement, released at 6:45 am, informed the public that the district and the Smyrna Police Department were aware of a threat made on social media targeting Smyrna Middle School. In response, they assured that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure safety. The district said that there would be an increased police presence and additional school administrators on the school campus to safeguard students and employees.

The second update, at 9:15 am, continued to assure the community of the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of all students and staff. The district expressed gratitude for the community’s support and reiterated the seriousness with which they treat any threats to the schools. They also noted the continued increased presence of police and administrative staff at the Smyrna Middle School campus and promised to provide further updates as more information became available.

Several readers tell FSU that the social media threats include a threat to kill people in the school’s hallway at 1:35 today. The poster also singles out staff members by name.
