Police: Woman Struck And Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver Thursday

Delaware State Police are conducting an investigation into a hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a woman in Farmington.

Officials said at around 6:47 p.m., on Thursday evening a vehicle, currently unidentified, was proceeding northbound on South Dupont Highway, located just south of Main Street when the collision occurred.

A 33-year-old Milton woman, standing in the middle of the northbound lane of South Dupont Highway at the time, was struck by the vehicle. Following the collision, the vehicle involved did not remain at the scene, and the driver fled from the location, according to police.

Emergency response personnel pronounced the woman deceased at the scene. The identity of the woman is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The road was closed for an estimated four hours to allow law enforcement and emergency teams to conduct their investigation and clear the site of the incident.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any witnesses or individuals with information regarding the hit-and-run to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
