Detectives with the New Castle County Division of Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in New Castle.
Officials said on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:40 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Highland Boulevard for a shooting that just occurred.
Officers arrived on the scene and located a 19-year-old male victim who had been shot multiple times in his lower body.
Responding officers immediately provided lifesaving first aid by applying pressure to the wounds and utilizing a tourniquet.
The victim was then transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is currently in stable condition.
