Claymont Residents Hit By Another Series Of Thefts, Vandalism Tuesday

The New Castle County Division of Police is actively investigating a series of thefts and acts of vandalism that occurred in Claymont in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Officials reported that multiple incidents were reported in the communities of Darley Green, Naamans apartments, Woodstream Garden apartments, and Woodacre apartments.

According to the police, the incidents were reported between 5:30 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. Victims discovered property missing from their vehicles, or in some cases, their car windows were found damaged. The police are still receiving reports about these incidents, indicating a widespread pattern of criminal activity in the area.

Officials are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage that could aid in the investigation to come forward. Detective Fitzgerald of the Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the investigation.

This series of thefts and vandalism in Claymont follows a recent incident in December 2023, where New Castle County patrol officers arrested four individuals linked to a vehicle theft in New Castle. During that incident, a white Kia Soul was stolen, and the suspects were apprehended after a coordinated search involving police K9 units.
