Crash In Newark Trapped Driver Saturday

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that hospitalized a man Saturday.

At approximately 5:06 p.m., a serious motor vehicle collision occurred on Old Baltimore Pike in the area of Iron Hill Road. New Castle County Paramedics and the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company responded to the crash and found a two-vehicle accident. One of the vehicles was overturned and down an embankment with the driver trapped.

The 45-year-old male, trapped inside the overturned vehicle, was freed from the vehicle after a 30-minute extrication process. He was transported by Aetna ambulance to Christiana Hospital with New Castle County Paramedics accompanying. He was in stable condition, suffering from extremity injuries and potential internal injuries.
