House Fire Critically Injures New Castle Woman

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a house fire that seriously injured a woman Monday.

Officials said at approximately 2:50 PM, New Castle County Paramedics, along with several fire companies, responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the unit block of Megginson Avenue in New Castle.

Upon arrival at the scene, crews found a kitchen fire inside the residence along with a burn victim.

A 50-year-old female was treated by the New Castle County Paramedics for burns and smoke inhalation. Following the initial treatment, she was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition via Belvedere Fire Company ambulance.

The response to this emergency involved multiple agencies, including New Castle County EMS (Paramedics), Good Will Fire Company, Belvedere Fire Company, Cranston Heights Fire Company, Christiana Fire Company, Delaware State Fire Marshal, Five Points Fire Company, Holloway Terrace Fire Company, Minquas Fire Company, Minquadale Fire Company, and Wilmington Manor Fire Company.
