Man Critically Injured After Crashing Into Tree Friday

New Castle County Police are conducting an investigation into a crash that left a man in critical condition.

Officials said on January 12th, 2024, at approximately 9:03 am, a motor vehicle collision occurred in the 2500 block of Frazer Road in Newark, requiring immediate response from various emergency services.

New Castle County Paramedics, Aetna Hose, Hook, & Ladder Company of Newark, and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to the scene following reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree and trapped one patient.

Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics encountered a 45-year-old male patient being attended to by Aetna Hose, Hook, & Ladder Company’s EMTs. The patient, who had been trapped in his vehicle for around 25 minutes, was extricated by the rescue personnel. He sustained serious injuries to his chest and abdomen, with a strong suspicion of internal injuries.

The patient received on-scene medical treatment from the New Castle County Paramedics. Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted to Christiana Hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation helicopter, Trooper 4. At the time of transport, the patient was in critical condition.
