Police: Woman Facing Robbery Charge After Assaulting Victim

Delaware State Police arrested 27-year-old Jaquoya Smith of New Castle, for a robbery that occurred yesterday afternoon in a New Castle area gas station parking lot.

Officials said on January 10, 2024, at approximately 3:01 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery in the parking lot of the Super Gas located at 3006 New Castle Avenue in New Castle.

During their investigation troopers learned the suspect approached the 40-year-old victim in the parking lot of the gas station and demanded money from her according to police.

As the victim complied, the suspect hit the victim in the face and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money added police. A short time later, the suspect, identified as Jaquoya Smith, returned to the gas station, where she was taken into custody by troopers.

Smith was taken to Troop 2 and was charged with Robbery Second Degree (Felony) and Assault Third Degree.

She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $2,500 secured bond.
