Two Injured In McDonald’s Fire Thursday

Firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 2507 Concord Pike in Wilmington.

At approximately 9:10 Thursday morning crews were alerted to the fire. Upon their arrival, the Talleyville Fire Company observed smoke coming from the roof of the McDonald’s building. Firefighters from various departments across Northern New Castle County and Delaware County were dispatched to the scene to assist in controlling the blaze.

At one point during the fire, Command ordered all firefighters out of the building. The fire was later brought under control with units remaining on scene.

New Castle County Paramedics responded to the scene to provide medical support. Two individuals were reported to be affected by smoke inhalation. A 30-year-old female, suffering from chest pain, was treated on-site and subsequently transported to Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington, in stable condition. She was transported on board an ambulance from the Talleyville fire company. The second patient, a 25-year-old male, was evaluated by paramedics but declined transport to the hospital.

Crews from the Talleyville Fire Company, Claymont Manor Fire Company, Cranston Heights Fire Company, Wilmington Fire Department, and Five Points Fire Company, actively engaged in the operation.

As a result of the ongoing emergency response, Concord Pike is currently closed in the vicinity of the incident. Motorists are advised to avoid the area near Concord Pike and seek alternative routes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal.
