Lancaster Pike Closed After Crash Involving A Dump Truck

Delaware State Police are investigating a traffic accident that unfolded just before 2:45, on Tuesday afternoon.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that a car was involved in a collision with a large dump truck. The impact trapped the driver of the car for an extended period of time. The accident led to the closure of Lancaster Pike at Yorklyn Road in Hockessin.

The Delaware State Police issued a traffic advisory for New Castle County, urging motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes due to the closure of Lancaster Pike.

Following the accident, emergency response teams were able to free the trapped individual from the vehicle by approximately 3:00 PM. The patient has since been transported to a trauma center via Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 with unknown injuries.

Trooper 4’s involvement necessitated the complete closure of both directions of Lancaster Pike to facilitate the helicopter’s landing.

Motorists in the vicinity can expect significant delays.
