One Ejected, One Trapped In Tuesday Morning Crash

The Delaware State Police is investigating a Tuesday morning crash that left two men in serious condition.

New Castle County Paramedics Lieutenant Abigail Haas said paramedics arrived on scene to find a single-vehicle collision. A full-sized pick-up truck had left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver of the vehicle was ejected and the front seat passenger was still entrapped in the vehicle. Their injuries were as follows:

At approximately 04:49 a.m. the New Castle County Paramedics were summoned to Interstate 95 southbound, at the Silverside Road Underpass, for the report of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

The 38-year-old driver of the vehicle was treated for extremity injuries and possible internal injuries. He
was transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in serious condition.

The 44-year-old passenger of the truck was trapped in the vehicle for just under 20 minutes. He was
freed by fire department personnel using the “jaws of life”. The man was treated for a back injury and
possible internal injuries. He was transported to the Christiana Hospital in serious, but stable condition.

New Castle County EMS (Paramedics), Claymont Fire Company, and Brandywine Hundred Fire Company responded to the crash.
