Purse Left In Uber Ends With Unauthorized Purchases

Chester County – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a theft that occurred last week.

Officials said at approximately 3:48 PM on March 7, 2024, Pennsylvania State Police from the Avondale Patrol Unit were dispatched to the lobby of their station on Moxley Road in London Grove Township, Chester County, in response to a theft report.

A 55-year-old woman, a resident of Chadds Ford, reported that her purse, inadvertently left in an Uber, was stolen by an unidentified individual who subsequently made several unauthorized purchases with her debit card police said.

The missing items from the purse included a black Lululemon handbag valued at $50, a passport worth $60, a driver’s license with a $30 value, eye drop medication priced at $10, and $780 in cash. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $930.

The Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are conducting an investigation into the incident.
