Structure Fire Keeps Wilmington Firefighters Busy Wednesday Morning

Early Wednesday morning, a fire broke out in a structure in the 2100 block of Lamotte Street in Wilmington, reported at approximately 4:25 AM.

Witnesses first noticed flames coming from the back porch, leading to immediate calls to 911. First responders arriving at the scene encountered heavy smoke and, shortly after, reported extensive fire visible from the rear of the property.

During the incident, a woman reportedly entered the burning structure in an attempt to rescue animals. She was evaluated by medical personnel on-site but declined transportation to the hospital. Searches of the building confirmed that no individuals were present inside.

Firefighters contained and brought the fire under control just before 5:40 am, staying on-site for overhaul operations for approximately an hour and a half.
