Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred early this morning.

Officials said on April 14, 2024, at approximately 3:10 a.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Paradise Alley Road, approaching a stop sign at the South Dupont Highway intersection. Without stopping, the vehicle proceeded through the intersection, crossing both the north and southbound lanes of South Dupont Highway. It then veered off the southwest edge of the roadway, striking a stop sign located on the eastbound side of Paradise Road. The vehicle continued westbound through a grassy area before side-swiping a large tree.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from Clayton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim will be released once his family has been notified.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.
