On Sunday, April 28, 2024, at approximately 10:48 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police and rescue crews were dispatched to the 3300 block of Wilson Street within the community of Avalon, just south of Prices Corner Shopping Center.
Upon arrival, first responders from the Cranston Heights Fire Company and New Castle County Paramedics found a 32-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Despite immediate first aid efforts, the man’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased after being transported to a local trauma center.
The New Castle County Division of Police’s Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Detection Unit have taken charge of the investigation. Although the detectives are in the early stages of their inquiry, they have assured the public that there is no further threat to community safety stemming from this incident.
