Man Struck And Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver Identified

The Delaware State Police continues to investigate a Newark area hit-and-run crash that occurred last week after the 53-year-old Jorge Arango, of Newark, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials said on April 16, 2024, at approximately 8:16 a.m., a pedestrian was walking eastbound across the crosswalk on Kingston Road, at the intersection with East Chestnut Hill Road.

At the same time, an unknown vehicle traveling westbound on East Chestnut Hill Road made a right turn onto northbound Kingston Road and struck the pedestrian. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene and fled in an unknown direction according to police.

The pedestrian, a 53-year-old man from Newark was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was admitted for life-threatening injuries. On April 23, 2024, he died from injuries sustained in the crash. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

The make and model of the striking vehicle are unknown.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to please contact Master Corporal A. Hom by calling 302-365-8483.
