On Monday, April 15, 2024, the Milford Police Department responded to a bomb threat at the Planet Fitness located in the 600 block of N DuPont Blvd, Milford Plaza. This incident mirrored a similar threat received on Saturday, April 6, 2024, which was part of a series of bomb threats targeting various Planet Fitness locations across the state according to Sgt. Timothy Maloney.
Upon receiving the threat, officers from the patrol division immediately contacted the management of the fitness facility, who, prioritizing safety, evacuated the premises at approximately 4:28 PM. To ensure a thorough safety check, Milford Police solicited the help of the Capitol Police Department. Capitol Police deployed an explosive-detecting K9 unit to conduct a sweep of the building.
The K9 unit completed its inspection and by 4:57 PM, declared the facility safe. Management of Planet Fitness was then able to resume control of the facility.
