Seaford Man Charged With Stealing Church Van, Released On Unsecured Bond

In Seaford, Ronald Alberts, an 18-year-old local resident, was arrested by the Delaware State Police for allegedly stealing a church van.

Officials said the incident occurred early Friday morning when a state trooper noticed a white Dodge passenger van exhibiting erratic behavior on Concord Road, near the intersection with Church Road.

Upon stopping the vehicle on Concord Pond Road, the trooper identified the driver as Alberts and conducted a computer check that revealed the van was registered to a nearby church. Subsequent contact with church representatives confirmed the vehicle had been unlawfully removed from the church’s parking lot police said.

Alberts was arrested and transported to Troop 5 where he faced Theft of a Motor Vehicle, a felony charge, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, Driving without a Valid License, and several traffic-related offenses. Following his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 7, Alberts was released on a $2,400 unsecured bond.
