Young Woman Gunned Down At DSU Early Sunday

Delaware State University authorities reported a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the early hours near campus grounds.

A spokesman for DSU said at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, the university’s police department responded to reports of gunfire near the Warren Franklin Residential Hall’s north end underpass. An 18-year-old female, confirmed to not be a student of the university, was found with a gunshot wound and was transported to Bayhealth Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing, and it was noted that the victim may have been visiting a student at DSU along with another non-student. The suspects were last observed fleeing toward College Road.

The Dover Police Department is working with DSU authorities to investigate the killing.
