Middletown House Fire Ruled Accidental

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that a fire that occurred in Middletown on Sunday, May 12, 2024, was accidental.

Officials said at approximately 3:00 Sunday afternoon, the Odessa Fire Company was alerted to a house fire in the unit block of Old Dutch Court, in the Odessa Chase Community. Upon arrival the Fire Department found smoke and fire coming from the residence. Multiple Agencies were called to assist with extinguishment.  

State Fire Marshal Deputies were called to the scene and determined the origin of the fire to be on the back porch of the residence and was caused by discarded smoking materials officials said.

No Injuries were reported. Damage is estimated $10,000 dollars.
