Officials Update Double Pedestrian Struck Incident

Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that closed N Dupont Highway Sunday.

Officials said a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of North Dupont Highway and School Lane in New Castle at approximately 3:40 PM today, resulting in injuries to multiple pedestrians.

The incident prompted an immediate response from New Castle County Paramedics and the Wilmington Manor Fire Company, alongside other local emergency services.

Upon arrival, first responders found a motor vehicle collision and two pedestrians struck by a separate vehicle. An approximately 15-year-old male pedestrian suffered a leg injury and was attended to by New Castle County Paramedics. He was subsequently transported to Christiana Hospital by an ambulance from the Minquas Fire Company in stable condition.

A 36-year-old female pedestrian was also treated at the scene for potential internal injuries by paramedics and was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition by an ambulance from the Wilmington Manor Fire Company. Additionally, a 68-year-old female assessed at the scene declined medical treatment.

A fourth patient involved in the incident was transported to Christiana Hospital by a basic life support ambulance from the Christiana Fire Company for further medical evaluation.

The responding agencies included New Castle County EMS, Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Minquadale Fire Company, Delaware Air National Guard Fire Department, Christiana Fire Company, and Delaware State Police.
