Woman Charged With Felony Shoplifting, Resisting, Released On Unsecured Bond

Delaware State Police arrested 37-year-old Lamir Harris of Wilmington for felony shoplifting and drug offenses yesterday afternoon at a Newark area Kohl’s.

Officials said on May 3, 2024, at approximately 4:33 p.m., a trooper responded to Kohl’s, located at 2800 Pulaski Highway in Newark, for a report of a shoplifting. Prior to arriving, the trooper learned the black female suspect was last seen carrying the clothing that she had just shoplifted from Kohl’s while walking eastbound on Pulaski Highway towards a nearby Wawa.

The responding trooper searched the area and located the suspect with the unpaid merchandise behind a bush in the parking lot of the Wawa. As the trooper approached the suspect to make contact, the suspect fled and disregarded verbal commands to stop according to police. After a brief foot chase, the suspect, identified as Lamir Harris, was taken into custody without incident. A search of her person led to the discovery of 5 glassine bags containing approximately 0.035 grams of heroin, and one Xanax pill. The trooper returned to the Wawa parking lot and recovered over $2,100 worth of clothing from behind the bush.

Harris was taken to Troop 2, where she was charged with Shoplifting over $1,500 (Felony), Resisting Arrest, and Possess a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance – 2 counts, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on an $800 unsecured bond.
